SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
Ensure the concrete substrate is clean and free from oil, grease, sealers, curing compounds, paints, polymer coatings, dust or other foreign (bond breaking) matter.
Excess bitumen, adhesive or laitance should be removed by light scabbling or mechanical captive shot blasting or grinding, followed by vacuuming to remove debris and dust.
Depending on different conditions, new concrete floors must be 7 to 28 days old.
The substrates should be presaturated for preferably 6 hours with water before application.
MIXING
ABATOP-FSL requires 6.0 - 6.25 liters of water per 25 kg bag and is best mixed with a forced action, high shear stirrer, or by a heavy duty electric mixing drill at approx. 600 R.P.M.
Add pre measured water to a clean mixing bucket. Gradually add ABATOP-FSL into the water whilstcontinuously mixing the contents of the bucket.
When the entire contents of the bag have been added to the water, mix for a further two minutes to produce a smooth homogenous consistency.
Do NOT mix by hand. Do NOT add excess water. Discard any ABATOP-FSL that has hardened or stiffened in the mixing bucket.
Too intensive agitation of the mixture may result in unwanted air inclusion.
Before application, one should allow the mixture to stand for a short time.
Further addition of water will NOT reconstitute a useable mixture.
APPLICATION
The mixed material is poured onto the prepared substrates and spread with a smooth edge trowel to the required thickness in one operation.
Alternatively the use of a spiked roller will ensure a smooth even finish that will not require any further attention prior to the floor coverings being applied.
CURING
It necessary to cure areas of ABATOP-FSL with humidified method for at least 24 hours.
