SURFACE PREPARATION
Concrete
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from curing compounds, release agents, troweling compounds, standing water, grease, oil, dirt, bitumen coatings and loose or disintegrating concrete. All poured and precast concrete must also have blasted, wire brushed or acid etched to remove laitance.
Steel
All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from contamination. Prior to application all surfaces should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504. Oil or grease should be removed in accordance with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.
Surface preparation shall not take place in the following conditions:
- At temperature below 10 ºC.
- When the surface temperature is less than 3 ºC above the dew point.
APPLICATION
Material is supplied in two containers as a unit. Always mix a complete unit in the proportion supplied. Once the unit has been mixed it must be used within the working pot life specified.
Combined entire contents of curing agent (part B) with base (part A) and mix thoroughly with slow speed power agitator (max. 300 rpm). Mix thoroughly for 2-3 minutes, scraping the container bottom and side to assure complete mixing. There is no induction or waiting time required after mixing before application.
The exothermic nature of epoxy setting reactions may cause rapid temperature rise when the mixture is left massed in a bucket, resulting in high temperatures and loss of utility of the product. To maximize handling and working time, pour the mixture into shallow pans.
Apply ABADUR MP-25/45 to the prepared substrate by trowel or gloved hand. The adhesive layer should not be less than 2 mm and not more than 20 mm thick.
- In hot climate, material temperature should be 20 to 25 ºC prior to mixing; otherwise pot life becomes very short.
- Do not thin for any reason.
- Do not apply this mortar when surface temperature is below 10ºC.
- There should be no standing water on concrete surfaces.
